Meetings:
Meeting
held on Wednesday
April 20
- Kate
Dudding facilitator
Stories told -
Kate Dudding – Good Luck & Gifts - an original historical story
Micki Groper - The Magic Awongalema Tree -- an African folk tales
Adam Hoffman - The Wooden Clog-Maker and the King's Daughter - a French
folk tale
Joan Cousins - Hiding and Seeking - a personal story
Listener – Sandy Schuman
The roundtable was on handling awkward situations during a storytelling
program. Here are some tips Sandy shared re: facilitating a meeting when
something unexpected happens:
1. When you don't know what to do, say so. This is not a loss of control -- you
never were in control.
2. You can ask, "Does anyone have a suggestion?" This acknowledges
and shares the awkwardness.
3. If you get one complaint, ask if there are others. The seemingly lone
complainer usually isn't.
4. Use gentle humor.
5. Always remember -- who do I have to take care of in this situation?
Meeting held
on Tuesday May 17– see report in Aug/Sept Talespinner.

Thursday 7 to 9 pm “Interfaith Pride Celebration, Sharing our Sacred
Stories”
Sacred scripture is full of great stories. The sacred text that is
written anew in every generation is the story of each of our lives. To
celebrate the stories of Capital Region lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender
people, and their allies, Advocates for Welcoming Congregations will
help to launch Pride Week with its annual Interfaith Pride Celebration
under the theme Journeys of Faith: Everyone’s Story is Sacred. Local
storytellers Joe Doolittle and Christie Keegan will share
personal stories of faith and connection to the LGBT community. Participants
will be invited (but certainly not required) to share in a small group a story
from their lives. And musical guests, the Albany Gay Men’s Chorus will
add to the joy of the occasion. A dessert reception will follow the program.
For further information, contact Rev. Tony Green, 928-7069 First

Question of the Month
I
was intrigued by the recent discussion on the “Storytell” list serve. The
question asked was: Are artists liars? What do you think? Let me
know and I will print the answers in the Aug/Sept Talespinner. E-mail
your answers to cbnolou@yahoo.com.
The Dreamer awakes
The shadow goes by
The tale I have told you,
That tale is a lie.
But listen to me,
Bright maiden, proud youth:
The tale is a lie;
What it tells is the truth.
